This was the beginging of colorguard, but then it seemed to be the end of a long existing important job in the army. Color guard was forgotten and not thought of again.
This was true in till the milatry said otherwise. They saw the guardsmen as an old tradtion thatshould be kept alive. But there were some addtions. The guardsmen were re-established and used for more than running down the battle field and screaming as shots rang through the air. In addtion the silent corps began to eerge.
The silent corps are a group of six men who silently and precisely performed a silent show with rifles spinning high in the air. real bayonets were used on the ends of their rifles, there fore much training was needed.
The trainees started out by arriving at boot camp early in the morning were they were assigned to barracks and started training right away. The men go through two months of boot camp and learning the differnt parts of the gun.
After these two months there motor skills are checked anf from those still able to go on twenty three are choosen foer the birgade . These tenty three "lucky" men are woken at 5:30 to eat breakfast and immadetly after to start training. They are to stand strong as there instructorinspects ther every move. Being to tired to eat they pass around a bucket of ice water for their cut and bruised hands. After this moment of relif they are back to work training and practicing. The rifles fly around in the air with percussion and hands are cut by the bayonets when the rifle dosen't come down right. But soon the sun sets and its dinner, a shower, and usually straight to bed being to tired to even play cards.
After this intense training some are elimnated according to height, width, and the way one handles their rifle. Which thenends up to twelve people. From these twelve they are assigned desk jobs. This is neccsary to complete in order to be in the birgade. Then the instructors choose the last six. Their hight, weight, coordination, concentration, and dedication are all checked over once again to make the right combination of people worthy of the title "silent corps guardsmen".
So in conclusion to this branch of history, the last six members are taught a show and are to perform it int front of thousands of spectators.
talk about pressure!
